Botox injection
What is Botox injection?
When you smile, laugh, frown or look puzzled, you contract your face muscles. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth; between the eyebrows and on the forehead.
These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired.
BOTOX treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging leaving you looking younger and more refreshed.
Botox works by blocking certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract.
Ideal Candidates
Candidates for BOTOX include patients who want to address:
- Glabellar lines, or deep lines between the eyebrows
- Creases along the forehead or brow area
- Wrinkles or “crow’s feet” lines around eyes
- Sagging skin or bands along the neck
- Loose skin or wrinkles in the cleavage area
- Frown lines or other deep wrinkles
BOTOX is also useful for treating minor medical ailments that affect the muscles, such as tension in the jaw muscles from temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
In some cases, BOTOX has also proven to be an effective treatment for excessive sweating in the armpits.
Botox is usually injected into the doctor’s office.
Your doctor uses a fine needle to inject small amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscles.
The number of injections required depends on many factors, including the extent of the area being treated.
Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours.
This may help prevent the toxin from spreading to a different area.
You can return to your normal activities right after the procedure
