Rhinoplasty
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures performed today.
It can reshape, reduce or augment a person’s nose to achieve facial harmony and boost self-confidence.
It may be performed as a reconstructive procedure to correct a birth defect or an injury such as a broken nose.
Ideal Candidates
During your personal consultation, Dr. Tarek Raief will examine your facial structure and nasal imperfections to devise a personalized treatment plan that reflects your desires. You may want to consider rhinoplasty if you struggle with any of the following:
- A crooked or poorly shaped nose
- Disproportion between the nose and other features
- Nasal blockage due to structural issues
Rhinoplasty may be done inside your nose or through a small external cut (incision) at the base of your nose, between your nostrils.
After the procedure your nose may be placed in a splint. This helps to support your newly reshaped nose and protect it from accidental contact. You will be able to see the improvements of your surgery after the initial bruising and swelling dissipates in about 1 or 2 weeks.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty: the nose can be reshaped non-surgically with dermal fillers, by strategically injecting filler at certain points in the nose, providing improvements that last up to a year.
The length of recovery after rhinoplasty is different for every patient. Patients can expect some discomfort, congestion, bruising, and swelling during the first few weeks of recovery.
One week after surgery, any internal and external splints are removed. Side effects should subside considerably within two weeks, at which point most patients return to work and social activities.
Out-of-town patients should plan to stay in the area for up to 10 days before traveling home to allow enough time for a follow-up with Dr. Tarek Raief.
